We enjoyed hosting our Spring 2025 Student Groups Meet and Greet on March 24th! Hope everyone enjoyed learning about the role of a museum archivist and record keeper from Jennifer Thompson at our event on March 20th as well as hearing about metadata at the Walt Disney Company with Kristy Martin. SAASC Executive Board Elections
Are you looking for ways to enhance your iSchool experience? The SJSU Society of American Archivists Student Chapter (SAASC) is now recruiting students for our 2025-2026 Executive Board! Help us achieve our chapterโs mission to explore various archives of interest to our members, foster community, and provide networking and career development opportunities for iSchool students interested in archival studies and records management.
No previous experience is required! Just a genuine interest in archives and student leadership. Training and transitional meetings are provided.
Nominations are due by Friday, April 11, 2025. Voting will be open to SAASC members from Monday, April 14 through Friday, April 18, 2025. Results will be announced by April 25, 2025.
**Interested in seeing how the board works before nominating yourself? Weโre hosting an open board meeting on Tuesday, April 8, 6:00-7:00 pm PDT. You can see what goes on during a typical SAASC board meeting and get a chance to ask questions about specific roles. ASIS&T SC and SAASC Present: Examples of Technology In the Archives with Carli Lowe and Raymond Lam - April 9th 5:00 - 6:00 PM PST
Join the ASIS&T Student Chapter and SAASC for an interactive workshop exploring how Adobe Photoshop can be a powerful tool for archivists. Learn some essential techniques. This session will begin with a presentation on some applications of Photoshop in archival work, followed by a hands-on demonstration where you can practice alongside us. SAASC Presents: How Art Intertwines with History and Archives with Cassandra Marsillo - April 24th 6:00-7:00 pm PST
Join SAASC in welcoming Public Historian, artist, and writer, Cassandra Marsillo. She is based out of Montreal and offers a unique perspective through her expertise of combining her work as an archivist & public historian, with her visual artistry. She has created installations, digital media, and collaborated on a variety of artistic projects that explore themes of memory, nostalgia, identity, and autobiography. Her work is inspiring and will offer insight into the relationship of art, public history, and the field of archives. This event will be recorded and you will have a chance to ask questions.
